Claim the Promise in Prayer

Team at the Forbidden City

Is there any prayer so powerful as praying the Word of God? Our group, gathered in a hotel in Beijing, was about to go out to walk through Tienamen Square and the Forbidden City, once again calling on the Lord for China to be saved. We sang several worship songs and landed in prayerful pause on Psalm 2:8. This is the verse the devil perverted when he suggested that Jesus bow to him to receive the nations.

“Ask of Me. The Lord says. And I will give you the nations and the uttermost peoples for your possession.”

We sang it, “Here am I Lord, please give me China as an inheritance for you …” our voices drifted off softly as tears filled our eyes. The Holy Spirit filled us with faith to claim the nations. As we walked that massive square under the portrait of Mao, people, young and old, flocked to us and were able to hear the gospel, take pictures together, and receive prayer.

Do you want your town to be saved? Do you want to see America come back to Jesus? Then claim the promise in prayer. Shut down the complaining and cynicism and call upon the One who can change it all. In 1963, the Supreme Court decided we as a nation could raise our kids without the Bible and prayer in schools. It has not worked. Repent of the sins of the nation and call upon the Lord for His Holy Move.
