Farming
“This led Him to say, ‘What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his own garden; and it grew and became a tree, and the wild birds found shelter and roosted and nested in its branches.’ And again He said, ‘To what shall I liken the kingdom of God?’” Luke 13:18-20
If we are going to grow in the Kingdom of God, we’re going to do it the same way a farmer grows seed in the ground. How does the seed grow? You don’t plant the seed one day and harvest the next. No, it grows constantly, a little at a time, until it accomplishes what it was created to become.
Many people I know don’t operate that way spiritually. We study and pray hard for a few days, then get caught up in the business of life and neglect the more important matter. Then, when some tragedy or disaster comes our way, we try to make a mad attempt to pray and get into the Word. That’s the way I did it for most of my Christian life..
There is no such thing as an overnight, drive-thru service when it comes to growing in the Kingdom of God. Real strength and growth, spiritually, comes as we consistently and constantly keep the Word of God before our eyes, in our ears and in the midst of our heart … not just when we want to or feel like it, but constantly staying in the Spirit.
We need to make our minds up to begin a daily process of growth in the Kingdom ways of life. Determine, in your inner man, to start putting the Word in your heart consistently. Every day, a verse here, a verse there, meditating on what we have read until it grows up and becomes … Keep adding to your faith and see the Word come alive in your life. Eventually, your faith will become fully matured and producing abundantly as Jesus said in John 10:10.
This spiritual farming will produce Ambassadors of Christ, allowing us to be his representatives everywhere we go.
