Giving to Jesus
In the book of John, chapter 6:1-14, we find the account of Jesus feeding the multitude. I seriously doubt the young Jewish boy in the story had any idea that his small lunch would be used to feed 5,000 people that day. The boy was blessed to experience a miracle unfold right in front of his eyes. Jesus blessed the little that he had and was able to feed so many people. Jesus wants to do the same with you and me. He wants us to willingly give of our talents, gifts and resources. He will bless the little that we have, to be a blessing others. It starts with simple act of obedience to the Lord, saying “Yes”.

Over the years, SEAPC has said, “Yes Lord, use the little resources that we have,” and He has blessed it. God has blessed SEAPC through acts of obedience like providing a medical procedure for the children in Tibet or building a school in Cambodia. Hundreds of people now have a relationship with Jesus.
Short-term mission trips are another way to say, “Yes Lord, use the little resources that I have.” You and I may not be an eloquent preacher, a skilled craftsman or a teacher with a PhD., but God will use the little that you have and bless it. Each mission trip is unique; you have a chance to experience God at work, you might even see miracles unfold before your eyes. You will experience His provision and His protection.
I encourage and challenge you to spend time seeking Jesus for this coming New Year. Pray and ask Him what resources He wants you to give. Maybe you are to give of your time, your talents, or of your finances for God’s Kingdom. Perhaps it is to go on your very first short-term mission trip. Whatever it is, will you be willing to be obedient to His request? Will you be willing to give your “lunch” to Jesus so He can feed the multitude?
