SEAPC Coins for Kids

It has been said that the average American has 24 cents in spare change every day. That might not seem like much, but it can make a huge difference in the lives of children around the world when it is gathered together and combined with the love of Jesus. In response to this potential, South East Asia Prayer Center (SEAPC) has established SEAPC Coins for Kids.

From 2007 – 2010, Coins raised over $74,000! Some ways it was used:

~ Baseball equipment to Cambodia schools to start a program

~ Heart procedures for children in Tibet as designated by those who collected the money.

~ Backpacks and school supplies for inner-city children in Ohio

~ To bring Pastor Balmaro (who runs Kids Breakfast with the King) from Oaxaca, Mexico to Arkansas to teach Mexican families.

*You’re welcome to start collecting anytime within or outside of our own campaign dates.

Coins Stories

~ Riverside Community Church, under the directon of their mission Pastor Dave Longstreth and Lead Pastor Bill Ellis, used SEAPC/Coins for Kids to collect funds for playground equipment at two children’s homes in Cambodia in 2009. They raised $5,531, $4,000 of which went to the equipment and the rest to general SEAPC/Coins for Kids funds to go where needed. This year an email went out to the congregation announcing the start of their 4th campaign! They announced their goal to purchase two complete set-ups for SEAPC/EPIC “End Poverty in Cambodia.” Each set-up will provide the proper coops, grain, tools, water system, water generator, water tank and pipe, and 500 chickens. Whew! This church has a clear vision for Cambodia’s children and future with Jesus. Your church may be clearly wanting to support emergency needs for kids around the world under SEAPC’s direction.  Both ways are wonderful and easily done trough this kind of organized giving.

~ Christ Community Church, (Pastor Larry Husebo), in New Smyrna Beach, FL, organized an SEAPC Coins for Kids Drive in 2009. Then Sandy and Everett Foss, members of the church, recruited a team to go to Tibet with SEAPC and help in screening for congenital heart disease. They handed out packets about heart care which included a children’s bible in both English and Mandarin. The younger generation is learning English in school. These coins went to share the Word of God with children in Tibet. Great job!

~ Pastors Sam and Felicia Hsu from the Bread of Life Christian Church in Atlanta, GA, wrote to us to say that they decided to join the 2009 SEAPC Coins for Kids drive. When they took the idea to the church, several other ideas came up – like parents matching the kid’s contributions, some members owned restaurants and put containers out for collection, and Sunday School classes started collections by asking parents to give children coins for jobs they did at home or for good behavior. The Pastor said they were all delighted that after the campaign, the children continued to do good with chores and behavior. Seventy members and thirty children participated. With the matching funds included they raised $6634.86! Pastor Hsu said, ”I consider the SEAPC Coins for Kids project a win-win and continuous win situation! Their desire was to send a child from Tibet to Beijing for heart surgery and to know Jesus Christ.

~ Pastor Wayne Maddy of Tree of Life Church in Massillon, OH, decided to be a part of the Coins for Kids drive last year and they were doing great when one night the church was robbed.  Pastor Maddy reported to the church what had happened and to his delight they redoubled their efforts and continued the drive! Lord bless you all for your effort and we pray your church will be doubly blessed for what the enemy robbed.  These funds will be a part of our giving to Haiti.
