The Instruction You Obey is the Future You Create

“Happy is the man who finds wisdom and the man who gains understanding; for her proceeds are better than the profits of silver and her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies and all things you may desire cannot compare with her. Length of days is in her right hand, in her left hand riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her and happy are all who retain her.” Proverbs 3:13-18

Recently, I was preparing for an offering devotional that I give when the Holy Spirit brought this thought to mind. It is the instructions that I take and apply to my life that create my future. Today, all over the world, many are asking … Where is God? How can we be in this economic meltdown? Is this His judgment? What is the answer?

God is in the same place that He has always been and the answer is in the same place it has always been — His manual, the Bible. What I find is that there are too many of God’s people that are looking to man’s system to solve the world’s problems. They can’t. The system is broken. We took God out of it and we are reaping the results of the seed that was sown. The verse above is very clear that happiness is found in wisdom and understanding, but we need to be very careful that we get our wisdom and understanding from the right source. Silver has been an excellent investment, lately, and gold has been climbing at an outstanding rate. I know since I have been purchasing it since the wisdom in the Word spoke to me to do so.

The truth of God’s Word has been far more precious than any metal or gem that I could invest in and it, truly, has become the tree of life spoken of in this Scripture. In the next few months, I want to look at some instructions that were given in God’s Word and look at the future they created for those who obeyed. Let me caution you with a scripture reference that I will have you look up and read. 1 Corinthians 1:19,26-29 will teach us that the wisdom of God never looks anything like the wisdom of man. In fact, in many cases, God’s instruction is foolishness in the eyes of the world. Nevertheless, it is the only way to the life He intended for us. Pray and ask God to open your eyes to His Wisdom, His understanding and create a glorious future in Him. Next month, and through the next year, we will look at and apply these instructions in our lives. What an exciting time to be involved.
