Time With the Kids
My trip is over and I’m home. The flooding in Cambodia, Thailand, Laos and other countries has killed hundreds of people and is affecting many more. We were unable to visit the children’s home in Banteay Meanchey and the CCSN schools because the flooding affected the road to get there. A few parts of Phnom Penh that are close to the river are also flooded.
Unfortunately, while there, I learned that Saray, the boy who had eye surgery earlier this year, has not regained sight as originally reported. Eye drops are being tried again to see if they will now help. Sokhom and I also learned that three other boys need surgery for problems. Now, we are waiting as the hospitals keep sending the boys on to the next location before their surgeries can happen.
Despite these and other difficulties, great things are happening. It was a lot of fun to watch Cecilia and Rosanna hand out the school supplies that were provided by their church, South Bay Agape. The kids were surprised and excited as Rosanna spoke with them in Khmer.

Children writing letters to their sponsors
Of course, the kids gave some fun answers when we were updating their data (coming to sponsors soon). One little girl said that her prayer request was to get some ballutte. We were surprised that she even knew what it was. Many kids said that their best experience of the year was receiving gifts from their sponsors for birthdays and/or Christmas (which reminds me, sponsors please send any Christmas gift funds this month so the team has time to purchase the items).
Another great thing to see was more youth being excited about going to skill training when they cannot attend university. This way, they can learn skills such as mechanics, hotel & restaurant management, beautician, air conditioning, etc. to support themselves in the future. They are thankful to have this opportunity.
Of course, I cannot include everything from the trip in this amount of space. But, I wanted to give you a brief overview of things that are happening. Please pray with me for the people affected by the flooding and for the four boys. Also, please praise God with me for His provision of school supplies, happy hearts and the desire for education.
