Your Garden of Prayer
The Lord told Adam to tend and keep the garden. That didn’t last long as you know. Adam and Eve became greedy and they disobeyed God.
My friend Joy, in Penn State, is a small but mighty woman of God. Her passion and expression of it are impressive and contagious. Other women have to reconcile with it, either for or against. God says He would rather have us hot or cold. Joy’s exuberance and confidence are often misinterpreted by those less exuberant, if you know what I mean.
Joy came to a place in prayer when the Lord called her to take up gardening and spend time with Him alone. She spent her early mornings preparing the ground, designing, planting and later watering and weeding.
She kept moving on around the house and finding more and more kinds of flowers she liked. But her joy was in spending the time praying. Her prayer target was her husband and teenage sons. She realized how perfect God’s plan was as she saw the results of her prayer. Her satisfaction came from her obedience to God’s plan for her time. Is she still exuberant? Of course she is!
In the course of it, her neighbors have been friendly and blessed by the beauty.
Joy’s garden is soooo big and circles her home more than once. Her deck is covered with a beautiful potted garden and her arbor is covered with blooming flowers. It is all the beautiful fruit of a labor of love and prayer. What is God speaking to you about prayer?
Ellie
