Press In To Press On #14

Mark Geppert

Isaac had a word, it had been passed to him from his father. Abraham died without realizing the fullness of God’s rhema to him. He died in faith and became a place for the souls of those who would die in faith awaiting the fulfillment of God’s promise. Jesus would visit Abraham’s bosom and lead those waiting in faith in the resurrection to ascend with Him to the right hand of the Father, there to realize the fullness of the promise.

Isaac was the keeper of the word in his generation. By faith, his father had sent his servant to obtain a wife for Isaac that the promise could remain in his household. Rebecca came with the servant and bore Isaac two sons and three generations dwelt in the covering of the promise made to Abraham.

“Blessing I will bless you and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heavens and the sand which is in the seashore and your descendants shall possess the gates of their enemies. In your seed shall all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.” (Gen. 22: 17-18)

Rebecca was barren and Isaac cried out to the Lord. She conceived and found that she was going to have twins. The two struggled with each other while still in the womb. (Gen. 25:22) and she pressed in to God to find out what was going on.

The Lord answered her, “Two nations are in your womb. Two people shall be separated from your body: One people shall be stronger than the other. And the older shall serve the younger.” (Gen. 25:23)

Esau, the first-born and heir to the birthright and promise to Abraham through Isaac was a hunter while Jacob was a homebody. Isaac loved Esau and Rebecca loved Jacob. Rebecca had a rhema. She knew from the Lord that the blessing was going to come to Jacob.

Esau sold the birthright and the promise with it. He did not esteem his calling higher than his desire for food that would not satisfy. (Gen. 25:34) He esteemed the desires of his flesh as greater than his promise.

Seeing this, Rebecca instructed Jacob to deceive his father and receive the impartation of the blessing that had been with his grandfather. Because Esau despised his birthright and the promise, it was passed to Jacob. (Gen. 27:27) Gained by deception, the promise to Abraham passed to the third generation.

But, God watches over His word to perform it. The word that God sends will not return to Him void but with accomplish that for which it is sent. Though men deceive themselves, and one another, the word of the Lord is steadfast and sure. (Isaiah 55:11)

Our world today is filled with deception. People are not honest with themselves and have sold their God-given rights for immediate gain. They spend their wages on things that do not satisfy. They cry “Peace”

when there is no peace. They drink and are thirsty, they eat and are not filled. But, you are different. You have a promise, a rhema from God and will not sell out your birthright. (Isaiah 55:1-2)

You are born again. You are an heir according to the promise to Abraham and a joint-heir with Jesus. The Spirit of Truth (John 14:17) has been given to you so that you speak the truth, Jesus, to yourself and all who will hear. This is your birthright.

You press in to press on.
