BEAUTIFUL

Press In To Press On #20

Mark Geppert

It took faith. “And when they saw that Moses was a beautiful child” What did they see? Was it the same Spirit that caused Zacharias to prophesy over his son, John (Luke 1:68) Was it the same Spirit that caused Samuel to select David? What did they see?

Holding that baby, they had a Rhema that he was significant to all. Motivated by what they had seen in him, they defied the law of the land and hid the child until he was too big to hide.

Hearing from the Lord, they made a waterproof basket and by faith in the word they had heard set him adrift on the Nile. What kind of stewardship is that for a person called beautiful in both Hebrew and Greek (Exodus 2:2 and Hebrews 11:23). They believed in a God of Promise who would watch over His word to perform it. The prosperity of the word given to them was not dependent on their ability to hide the baby.

Faith releases control. After pressing in for 3 months, they pressed on.

The Nile brought the baby to a barren princess and the deliverance of Israel to the courts of the king.

How the mother and sister must have pressed into God as that little basket flowed on the current. How their hearts must have cried to God to preserve the life of that beautiful child. God made the river and ordered it by the word of His mouth, rhema. The worlds were framed by His rhema word. (Heb. 11:3)

The sister followed the flow of God that brought her little brother, a target of hatred and fear, to the throne of Egypt. Release declares resignation to the perfect plan of the Father. God, who sent that boy for purpose will not now let him be destroyed. The princess sees the basket and is led to have it brought to her and discovers the child. She, in the context of her belief, declares that the Nile has brought the child to her. She has no knowledge of the God who is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him; but, she does believe in divine intervention, an unseen world from which temporal things appear.

Little sister steps up, guided by the thoughts God is speaking to her mind, she offers a nurse maid for the child and the Egyptian, knowing the health and strength of the Hebrew women, accepts so Moses is raised by his mother and thought to be the gift of God.

Pressing in to God gave these women the power to Press On in God. Moses, the beautiful child, the anointed of God will press in to Him on many occasions. Moses will be used not only as the miracle doer, but the deliverer of Israel bringing them to the promise given to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Through him the body of Joseph will be brought to the promised land and the word of God will be given to Israel.

You have a rhema, a vision from God, that is also beautiful. It is robust. It is dynamic. It is sent for a particular time. It has developed like a child in the safety of your heart and is being birthed into a very hostile world. At some point you will have to let it go in the flow and watch God carry it to its eventual destiny. It was yours to birth and nurture, but some day it will part the sea and step out to lead and deliver. Release it to the One who sent it.
