Press In To Press On #21

Mark Geppert

Moses had a Rhema. When he came of age, he refused to identify with Egypt; but bore the burden, the reproach of the Hebrews. You had the same word from God. Like Timothy, the faith of your fathers became yours. Like Isaac and Jacob, the faith of the fathers became yours.

Or, perhaps your experience was different in that you are the first believer in your family. All the curses of your family’s devotion to idols or love for the things of the world are now broken; because, when you became of age, you refused to identify with the world, but rather became follower of the only true God, the God of the Living and not of the dead.

God, who knew you in Christ before the worlds were ordered by His Word, preconditioned you to make this decision. He put faith in your heart to receive. God, who is sovereign over all things prepared you, as He did Moses to believe that He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. He sent forth His Word and you became the good ground through which the seed multiplies into a harvest so very great that it can not be numbered. You are His reward for the sacrifice of His Son.

God, who is all powerful, all knowing, and everywhere, set you apart in your earthly family that you may demonstrate to them the love God has in Christ Jesus. You are unique. You were wonderfully formed, beautiful as was the baby Moses and prepared to make your decision.

Moses realized that he was different.

He didn’t look like an Egyptian. The songs he had learned from his mother were Hebrew songs about a wonderful, powerful, God and His promise. The idols of Egypt had no hold on Him. His mother raised him in the nurture and admonition of the Lord; and, when he was grown, Moses did not depart from them. He chose to not be called the child of privilege identifying with the princess, but, rather, identified with the enslaved Hebrews. (Heb. 11:24)

Moses celebrated his difference.

He was free from fear. He was free from the control of riches. He was free to intervene in the lives of his fellow Hebrews. He was beginning to sense the power of one who is not bound by fear and confidence was growing in his spirit. Still a youth, he had to learn the righteous way of releasing that confidence; but, the confidence was there. (Heb.11:24-27)

You stepped away from identification with the world. You have come to realize the folly of the ways of man. You have given yourself to press in to God knowing that He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (Heb. 11: 6). You are strengthened in faith by the Word of God. You have an anchor for your soul. You have found that as you draw near to Him, He draws near to you. You are no longer given to the way things appear, but realize that the breeze of the Holy Spirit will dispel deception and deliver you to the Light. Shadows of truth fade as the Spirit of Truth reveals His rhema to you.

You have learned the lesson, wait upon the Lord and He will renew your strength, trust in Him with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding, and all your ways will prosper.

And, like Moses, you will lead the people to the presence and power, the purpose and praise of the One who set you apart. God is working through you to save a multitude. Press In to Him to gain the strength to press on.
