Moses had a rhema. As a young man, identified with the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, he realized that the wealth of Egypt did not compare to the reward that God has for those who diligently seek Him. (Heb. 11: 26) He esteemed reproach for Christ to be more valuable than the “passing pleasures of sin.” (Heb. 11:25)
Moses could have coined the phrase, “Just say no.”
God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. He has equipped us to say “no” to the siren song of sin and “yes” to the “Christ,” the still small voice of a Loving Father who will keep us from the consequence of actions against Him, ourselves, and others. It is Christ in you who gives us the unfailing hope that carries you across the abys of compromise to the peak of victory.
The holy anointing that was with Melchizedek (14) when he broke bread with Abraham, with Isaac (22) when he heard the ram in the bushes and with Jacob as he wrestled with God (32) and Joseph when he was restored to his family (45) has now manifest Himself to Moses. God has manifested His glorious presence to the person of purpose and will anoint him to accomplish that work designed for him from before the foundations of the earth.
Moses had spent 40 years shepherding the flock of Jethro. In the arid land of the Arab Peninsula he followed the flock from meager grass land to grazing fields at the base of Horeb, the Mountain of God. It was there that the Lord manifested His presence with a sign of a burning bush. The bush burned, but was not consumed. Moses turned to investigate such an unnatural occurrence.
When God saw that Moses had turned, He spoke. “Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.”(Exodus 3:5) Moses was about to get a rhema.
God said to the man who had pressed in to Him, I have seen the plight of the children of Israel and remembered the promise I made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and am now going to deliver My people from their cruel taskmasters and bring them to the land of promise. (Exodus 3:8)
You are going to do it.
And Moses said, “What? Me? No way!” Moses did not understand, as we often forget, the power to accomplish the purpose is in the Rhema and as we allow the Word to become faith, the impossible becomes possible. Moses learned that the anointing that burns the bush does not consume it. The fire
of the Holy Spirit enables us to fulfill the plan and purpose of God designed as the work we have been given to do.
The presence of the Lord with us keeps us from the pitfalls and snares the world puts around us. He is with us as we bring deliverance to our family, city, state, and nation. As those who speak the truth, “Jesus”, we will suffer reproach. As we declare that Jesus is the only Way to the Father, we will at best be called narrow-minded. As we declare that he who has the Son has life and he who has not the Son is dead though he lives, we are going to be called judgmental. The opportunity to remain silent is always with us; but, so is the Holy Spirit and He will give us what to say to whom and when.
Christ, the anointing was with Moses and will be with you.
