Press In To Press On #24

Mark Geppert

Moses believed that God would do what He said He would do. Having seen the hand of the Lord move in so many ways as the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, Moses had little choice but to keep the Passover and sprinkle the blood. There was no doubt left that the Unseen God would demonstrate His omnipotence in a most dramatic way. Pharaohs had set the precedent in ordering that male children of the Hebrews be killed. God, Who will show mercy to the merciful, had no mercy in His final act.

Death would visit the community in the dread of night. Terror and horror would fill the streets as thousands would die. Moses received another Rhema, a word of instruction from God, to preserve Israel from destruction. He was to instruct the people to take a lamb for their house and a lamb for their neighbor and to sprinkle the blood of that lamb on their door frames with the promise that when death came and saw the blood, it would pass over that house. (Exodus 12:28)

Moses pressed in to God, believing that He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Moses instructed the people; and having seen the previous miracles, they responded. They sacrificed the lamb, prepared the Passover meal, and prayed through the night as the Lord manifested His power.

Moses pressed in, received the Rhema, proclaimed the Rhema, acted on the Rhema, “lest He who destroyed the firstborn should touch them.” (Heb.11:28)

Moses had the Rhema of the power of the blood of the lamb. From that night Israel has celebrated the Passover. The New Covenant continues to celebrate the cup of the covenant declaring that through the blood of Jesus, the Lamb of God, death no longer has dominion over us. Jesus has taken the cup for all who will believe. Just as Abraham declared to Isaac, God has provided His own sacrifice.

Hearing from God and doing what He has instructed releases the reward to those who diligently seek Him. The reward of friendship with God is for those who obey. (John 15:14) Abraham obeyed God and it was accounted to him for righteousness and he received Isaac. But, how did Moses know for sure that the Lord was speaking?

His Spirit bears witness with our spirit so that we do not go by what is seen; but by that which is unseen for God’s thoughts, ways, words, and deeds are much higher than ours. He shows us the way in which we should go by His Spirit who is given to lead us in all truth. (1 Cor.2:10) (Isaiah 55:8-9)

God will never change. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The ancients pressed in to Him and found that His Word, which He sends forth will not return to Him void, but will accomplish that for which it is sent. When we receive a rhema for a situation or circumstance, we are to be a witness of His faithful completion of that which has been said. As a reward, we get to walk through the situation with Him and record all the wonderful things He has done.

John walked with Jesus and the world could not contain the whole story. Moses walked with God and wrote the first 5 books of the Bible and many Psalms telling of the wonderful works of God.

You are on the earth now to hear what the Lord is saying and to tell about it when it happens. You are His empowered witness to declare His glory in the earth. Press in to Him and press on in your journey.
