From Mark Geppert

PASSING

“By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land, whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do the same thing, were drowned.” (Heb. 11:29)

How is it that you can prosper in the midst of chaos and confusion when the world seems to be coming apart? How is it that the economy and global situation seem to crush and bury a thousand at your right hand and ten thousand at your left, but does not come near you? How is it that situations intended for your harm result in your blessing, and everything you set your hand to prospers?

How is it that Teen Challenge, established by a rhema to David Wilkerson, has the highest non-return-to-drug rate of all rehab systems?

How is it that Samaritan’s Purse, established by a rhema to Billy Graham, can serve more Muslims than the entire Muslim community combined?

How is it that Youth With a Mission, established by a rhema to Loren Cunningham, can create ministry centers in 300 Cardinal Cities around the world?

How is it that Every Home for Christ, sustained by a rhema to Dick Eastman, can gather 300 million signed decisions for Jesus?

And the list goes on. When God has a job to be done, He calls someone to do it. There is no doubt that He has called you. There is no doubt that the rhema He has placed in your heart has in it the power to accomplish His purpose for you, in you, and through you. God is at work in you to accomplish His will, and He will work through you to multiply His grace to as many people as you encounter.

You are His chosen vessel. Tell yourself, “I am selected by God for His purpose, and He will do it.”

You have learned a precious lesson. You have found that when things get chaotic, when funds are insufficient, when conflict and confusion surround you, you do not let them do the pressing. You press into God. By prayer, by praise, by recounting His mighty deeds and His love for you, pass the pressure to Him, which is exactly what He wants you to do. You have learned to cast all your cares on Him.

Israel learned it one morning. They looked back across an 11-mile-wide sea and saw the bodies of their former oppressors on the seashore.

The children of Israel had pressed into the word given through Moses, confirmed by the act of God, and had acted on the faith they received. They put that word into action with their feet. They escaped destruction by believing the word and walking it out. Egypt had refused the word of the Lord. Pharaoh had changed his tune, flexing his seeming power while Israel walked in faith in the power of Him who is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (Heb. 11:6)

You are walking by faith. God has given you a vision, a dream, a prophecy, a spoken word, a still, quiet word, some communication of His plan and purpose in your life. You are, like Israel, waiting for that sea of questions, doubts, fears, and circumstances to change; and, as you press in to God, it will. Get ready for the seas to part.

God is for you. God is with you. God is in you. As you press in to Him, acknowledge that He has spoken, and gather spiritual resources, human resources, and material resources. Get ready for that sea to part. As surely as you live, you will see the glory of the Lord in the land of the living.
