Press In To Press On #7

Mark Geppert

Time is swallowed up in eternity. God does not wear a watch, has not subscribed to Google Calendar, and does not follow months dedicated to Roman gods. He was, is, and always will be moving on His own timetable.

You, since receiving eternal life, must subscribe to His timing as perfect. That is not an easy thing to do. We who enjoy eternal life try to hold to a “God of the Now” as opposed to a timeless Holy Spirit who understands the end of things from the beginning. God knows and has designed the path for your feet from before the beginning of the earth. Jesus taught the disciples to pray, “They Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” In heaven there is no night.

Because you have exchanged your life for His, Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, is making the eternal concept of time your new normal. You are learning to wait upon the Lord and your strength is being renewed daily. You are learning that your life on earth is part of an eternal plan impacting generations.

Our prayer has become, “Lord, your will, your way, in your time, for your results and your glory.” Surrendering to the time and purpose of God is the greatest goal you can attain: “Godliness with contentment is great gain.”
(1Timothy 6:6) There is a “Fullness of Time” in everything God is doing with, for, and in you.

Abram, who was old and a sojourner in the land, had a Rhema from the Lord. He was the progenitor of the Savior of mankind, and yet spent his life learning the voice and timing of God. Just like you, he had to press in to God to gain the strength of faith to receive the miracle of Isaac. Abram didn’t make every right decision. He leaned to his own understanding in his conversation with God; but, in the end, subscribed to God’s will and way.

Yielding to God’s way changed Abram’s name to Abraham, the Father of Nations. Passing from experience to experience in God’s school, the man Abram became the father, Abraham. The seed of the nations was born in the heart of his now elderly body and he had a son. The Apostle Paul explains this to the believers in Galatia, “Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds” as of many, but as of one, and to your Seed, who is Christ.” (Galatians 3:16) “That the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” (Galatians 3:14)

From Abraham to David are fourteen generations and from David to the captivity are fourteen generations and from the captivity to Christ are fourteen generations so the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had a strikingly different timeline than the people involved yet “they all had seen them afar off and were assured of them.” (Hebrews 11:13) (Matthew 1:17) Abraham was fully persuaded that God was able to perform that which He had promised and it was imputed to him as righteousness. (Romans 4:21-22)

We, with faithful Abraham, press in to God to gain the strength to press on in the things which He has promised to us. God is faithful, and what HE has said, HE will do. Be encouraged, eternity takes time and as we continue steadfast in faith, we will see His promise come to pass. The “fullness of time” is God gathering together the right set of circumstances to see His kingdom established in the earth.

Be encouraged, Mark
