Give with Joy
2016 is a new year, which will bring two new SEAPC Coins for Kids campaigns. These campaigns will bring lots of blessings to kids in need around the world! Praise the Lord for his blessings that have not only been given to less fortunate children through SEAPC Coins for Kids, but also to those who have collected coins.2 Corinthians 9:7-8 says, “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And, God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”I am reminded of this scripture when I hear stories from parents whose children have collected coins. They tell me how exciting it is for them to collect coins and give them for other kids their age. Some do chores for quarters, others knock on doors, and others challenge their brothers and sisters to see who can collect the most!My prayer for the SEAPC Coins for Kids campaigns of 2016 is that we can all collect with joy, give with joy, and be abundantly blessed by it!The 2016 spring SEAPC Coins for Kids campaign runs from February 1 to Easter Sunday, March 27. Please contact us to see how you can get involved!

The Ground is Broken
The ground is broken and the first training center is going up. No, we have not received all the funds we need. No, we are not able to start all nine buildings at the same time as planned. No, we do not have the full funding even for this first building. No, we have no assurance from man that we will ever get the funds.

The ground is broken and the first training center is going up. Yes, the people are very excited. Yes, it is bringing new hope and vision to the Preasnet Preash (God Hears) school district of Banteay Meanchey Province. Yes, there is a vision and people are being energized to believe. Yes, it is a first step. Yes, this is really happening. Yes, Jesus will make a way for this and eight more buildings, and all the equipment, and all the trainers. And so, the wonderful faith life of the South East Asia Prayer Center continues. Many years ago when we faced a $2 million need for Tibet and a $1 million need for Cambodia in addition to our other nation’s faith proposals, I approached our board about creating an investment strategy that would allow us t

o have all the money before we started a project. Our then Chief Financial Officer, Ken Martin, laughed and said, “Then it would not be by faith. God will give money to you as you use it and need it.” No truer words have ever been spoken. Then another of the Board members, who rarely said anything, laughed and said, “I suppose this will keep our focus on prayer.”So to Ken Martin and Everett Foss I again say, “thank you.” Indeed we are in the midst of a $1.2 million step of faith and money is coming in and we are sending it and spending it. I do not doubt at all that in the Lord’s time we will have nine buildings completed, technology training established, and a copy of My Precious Book in the hands of each of 127,000 students and in their homes. Please pray with us as we see the hand of the Lord make provision — $1.27 million and 127,000 children. In my thinking that comes down to $10 per child. I say it is a small price for redemption. The ground is broken. Let it be the ground of our hearts as we respond to the Holy Spirit to redeem a nation from the killing fields, poverty, caste systems, and fatalism.

Ready for Revival
For decades Laos has been living under war and poverty, hidden from the outside world, in a complex landlocked country amidst a beautiful terrain of jagged mountains in the north, a fertile plateau in the south and a blanket of luscious green rain forest throughout. As the bamboo curtain begins to lift in recent years, the landscape of the nation begins to change, concrete buildings are becoming a more and more common sight, industrialism is quickly moving past the digital age into the advances of information technology. However, in the face of the quickly and ever-changing social, political, and economic landscape, there is yet another landscape that in the next few years will be swiftly moving across the mosaic of ethnicity in Laos.Laos has been shrouded in darkness, ever since she became a nation and even before that as the people of the land worshiped the spirits of nature. In a land that is surrounded by five Buddhist nations, she ultimately shifted from animism to Buddhism. Now we believe this is the time for Laos: in the timetable of our Lord, we need to make every effort to be a part of this heavenly agenda, and revival is on the horizon. If you want to be a part of this plan, here is what you can do:First, pray to come and be a part of this revival for a year. Second, we need sponsorship for staff to help us cope with the upcoming revival.

What a Difference a Year Makes
I’ve just flown from Kalaymyo back to Yangon, Myanmar, having spent a week in the northern part of the country where I met the 19 children at Charity Children’s Home Kalaymyo Branch for the first time. I was very happy to see that they were so filled with joy and were excited to meet and spend time us foreigners, especially since some of them had never seen foreigners before. This home is one of the great things that have happened this year. I want to look at and rejoice over more of those great things. We started the year with 12 children’s homes in Cambodia, one in Myanmar, and one in India; caring for a total of 533 children and youth. Now, with the additions of Takao and Kalaymyo, there are 13 homes in Cambodia and two in Myanmar. There are now 571 children and youth receiving care within the three countries. Raising Kids has grown by approximately 38 children this year but that doesn’t show the whole picture. In actuality, there are 70 new children who have arrived within the homes so far this year because, of course, there were some who left because they are now adults who can successfully provide for themselves or because their remaining parent or parents or extended family can now provide for them, or for some other reason.Land has been purchased and prepared for three homes in Cambodia: Takao, Preah Vihear, and Pailin. The permanent Takao home is under construction. The other two homes start construction this month. In Preah Vihear, this will provide a permanent location for the existing home. Pailin will be a whole new home for children to come to live. We are also starting construction in Kampong Cham to replace the dormitory that has been rapidly degrading. These are wonderful new opportunities for the children in Cambodia. In Myanmar, the parents of CCH director, Thang Chung Nung, have given their home in Kalaymyo as a safe place for children in need.Homes in all countries have been blessed with various renovations and provision of needs as well. In Yangon, Myanmar, they were blessed with a newer wall around the home for the children’s safety, repair to the kitchen foundation, new dining tables, repainting the boys’ dormitory, more clothes, school supplies, and a truck. The Kalaymyo home was blessed with funds to make repairs after the flooding of early August and add additional toilets for the children. The Arise and Shine event was also added this year. This gathering of people to enjoy a night of fellowship together and share a meal with children live from one of the children’s homes in Cambodia via live internet feed has been wonderful. It has enabled people to get a bit closer to the children and the children to see how there are many people who care about them. The second group of interns from Cambodia was in the United States for two and a half months. Bunthorn and Sai Hen’s humble spirits brought great joy into our office. We’ve added sponsors too! The year started with 241 sponsors based out of our office. As of now, there are 255 different sponsors. Just like the children, there have been sponsors who left for various reasons, so we actually added 29 new sponsors this year. Some of them are sponsoring multiple children. Please take a moment with me to praise God for the growth within Raising Kids this year. He has done wonderful things.I am excited to see what next year will bring! I already know that we will soon start to partner with Mendies Haven children’s home in Kathmandu, Nepal, and as of this month may possibly also have another partnership with a children’s home in Laos. Between these two homes, there will be around 170 more children.

A Heart and a Savior
Yixi Jiacuo is a child from the Northern Tibetan highlands where the altitude is about 4,800 meters. His unmarried mother gave birth to him and left him with his grandparents only a few days later. He was fed a diet of fresh milk of yak and sheep and ground barley, but he almost died of serious heart disease and malnutrition. At the age of one and a half, his family came to us for help.We took him out of the highland and fostered him for six months until he was strong enough to take the heart surgery. With the help of SEAPC, his broken heart was mended. He began to smile and breathe like the other children. Now he has already been back in Tibet for about six months. He is completely healthy and has become a happy child. His mother is married now, and Yixi lives with his grandparents. We visit him in his hometown, and his family also comes to visit us in Lhasa and stay with us for a few days under the same roof. We have built a relationship like close relatives. With this trust, God’s love and the message is able to spread out from this family to the other families.~ Gail and Daniel

BC Arise: Breaking Ground
Breaking ground is never simple! The largest commitment SEAPC has made to the Banteay Meanchey Arise project is to supply building materials and training to 450 volunteers so that they can break ground and build their very own educational training center in each of the nine school districts in Banteay Meanchey. For us, it equates to $1.2 million dollars. For them, it means recruiting a volunteer workforce with the promise of daily food and a government certification upon completion. That certification qualifies them for a wage that is 10 times the average. Our prayer is that as substance emerges from the dirt, and our individual faith extends us toward a better hope for the future of the collective whole, community is created and God is glorified.Together, because of Banteay Meanchey Arise, many will experience what God can do: the Cambodian villager who becomes a skilled worker, the local teacher who finds a platform to teach, the superintendent who made a way for his district, the Cambodian pastor who leads his believers to good pasture, and the global church represented through SEAPC who stood by faith on behalf of the poor and downtrodden. As of writing this, the ground has been broken in Banteay Meanchey! The rich soil that was covered in blood as killing fields for the Khmer Rouge, which was raped of its nutrients to feed the greed and growth of bordering nations, is now being turned over again in hope that a new generation will arise in righteousness through the knowledge and power of Jesus Christ. “We Believe!” is the battle cry of the youth in the province. Together we believe that faith truly is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen. Let faith arise this month in the form of nine beautiful, holy and set-apart structures, where hope can foster the battle cry of a new Cambodia. As we say often at SEAPC, “It is better to be a small part of a big thing than a big part of a small thing.” Together we are all playing a part in a very big thing. By this time next year 126,000 children will have learned the Lord’s Prayer and scripture for the very first time! The 700,000 residents of Banteay Meanchey will have had an opportunity to be blessed and will know that there is a better option for their futures. An entire nation will see what God can do through a small group of people who trust and obey Him.Please know how very grateful we are for you! We are praying for you and believe that God is blessing you for giving. If you really want to be blessed, jump on your computer or phone and type in “Banteay Meanchey, Cambodia.” Let Google Maps take you there and begin to look at all of the tiny villages that you are serving. Think about the kids in those villages who will no longer have to leave school.

SEAPC Coins for Kids Thank You Letter

Dear Friends,With the SEAPC Coins for Kids fall campaign coming to an end on November 22, I wanted to take time to say thank you to everyone who has participated over the years. It is through your sacrificial giving that, since 2007, Coins has raised more than $124,000 and has contributed to the needs of children around the globe.I have seen the impact your spare change has made on lives, whether it’s been life-saving treatment for a child needing heart surgery, a high school student able to attend a church-led youth retreat, supplies to tornado and earthquake victims, or renovations to dormitories for orphaned and abandoned children. I’m looking forward to seeing what the Lord will do with contributions from this campaign. We at SEAPC are very grateful for your support and choice to contribute with your spare change to impact the needs of kids around the world.May God bless you abundantly.

To Be a Risk-Taker for God
Early in the morning on November 27, 1989, I was reading Matthew 6 in the New Testament and focusing on “do not worry about tomorrow because He cares for us.” My wife Ngun Te called me when I was thinking deeply about the scriptures saying, “Honey, look at this.” When I looked at her, she showed me a 45 kyat note. She said to me with surprise yet with a big smile, “This is the last note we have, let us give thanks and pray.” It shocked me and I was so troubled. All the money we brought with us had run out and there was nothing left except the 45 kyat note in our hands. Her smile was a strong tonic for me in that miserable situation. Then, I advised her to buy any food that could be bought with the money. She purchased two kilograms of rice and sent our two daughters to Daw Tha Tang, who lived downstairs at our rented house, with two kilograms of rice to feed them. This was during a time when we had no one to help us financially inside or outside of the country, as we were and are living totally based on faith in God.

On that same day, I received a letter from my father who lived in Tamu — 700 miles from Yangon — saying that we must return to him. My logical thinking compelled me to quit the ministry and go back home.In fact, I nearly quit. In that moment, the words of Dr. Titus — “A great man ever failed but never quit” — came to me and inspired me to take another risk. So, my wife and I had no choice but to look to the Lord in prayer and fasting. On the fifth day of our fasting and prayer, a strange old woman named Daw Khin Mya Hmi, whom we never knew, unexpectedly came into the compound of our rented house and asked us, “Is this Pastor James Lian Sai’s residence?”“Yes! Of course, it is,” we replied promptly. When she was sure that the place was mine she told the reason why she came to us. She hastened to tell her reason without sitting. She said, “Last night someone came to me and gave me this package. But when I asked the Lord ‘should I handle the money or to whom shall I give the package?’ Instantly the Lord told me to give it to Pastor James Lian Sai. I asked God, ‘who is James and where does he live?’ Yet God didn’t tell me so. When I made inquiry, Rev. Paul John of Immanuel Baptist Church advised me to check this name with Chin Guest House on Barr Street. From there I got your address. So I came here and met you on their advice.” As she was talking she took the package and gave it to me and left in a hurry. When we opened the package it was 40,000 kyat. Oh, praise God! How happy I was. I felt like I was walking on air. It was God’s mighty hands that moved in times of trouble, through risk-takers.That 40,000 kyat was converted into an acre of new land for Acts Bible College where thousands of young committed people have been trained. Hundreds are studying God’s word and live together as one family under the love of God. Praise, glory, honor, power and almighty is He. Hallelujah! From the time we started missions work in 1989, our vision was to reach five million unreached people before the end of 2005. In order to fulfill our vision, gospel tract distribution was one of the best strategies for reaching the lost souls for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. But on the other hand, gospel tract distribution is illegal in Myanmar. According to the existing law, one can be put in jail for 15 years for this offense. Because of this, many Christian organizations and churches do not practice this strategy. In November 2004, we distributed 800,000 gospel tracts in Yangon city alone. On every tract, students put our contact number in order that the recipients may know how to contact our school. Because of this, we received many phone calls from recipients who wanted to know more about Jesus. But three days later, I also received a phone call from the highest military office in Yangon, stating that I was summoned to appear at his office. In fact, I must confess that I was very afraid to go to see him, because I was worried that I would be sentenced to prison for 15 years. The next day I went with Rev. Siang Luai and Captain Jai Gaung (retired) to the high military office and stood outside of the office for a while. Unexpectedly, a man with a full colonel military uniform— known by the spotted stars on his shoulders — said to me, “Are you not Brother James Lian Sai?” Surprised, I answered, “Yes, I am James.” He continued, “Do you recognize me?” I said, “No, sir!”Then he made himself known to me saying, “I am Maung Aye whom you loved and were a good friend of during our high school days at No. 1 State High School in Taungdwingye.” He asked me where I lived, what I was doing, and why I went to that office. So I told him the story, including where I lived, what I was doing and the reason why I was appearing at that office. I felt that he was sent to me by God like an angel to deliver me from terrible danger. Maung Aye said, “Do not worry, the man in highest authority is a good friend of mine and I will stand by you.” Because of this colonel in the military who was a good friend of mine 35 years ago, I was released without any harm. Praise God! He was and is good at all times. The greatest news is that more than 800,000 souls have had the privilege of hearing the gospel of Christ in their lives.Friends, difficulties may well come, but the results can be different than expected. It depends on one’s perspective. Results envisioned from taking a risk may turn out to be something better than we dreamed. If not you, who? If not now, when? Now is the time for you and me to make a strong, solid decision to be a risk-taker for God.

The Church Will Stand
“Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep; in journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils of my own countrymen, in perils of the gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; in weariness and toil, in sleeplessness often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness —besides the other things, what comes upon me daily: my deep concern for all the churches.” — 2 Corinthians 11:25-28Every year SEAPC hosts the “Friends Around the Table” gathering. This gathering is to celebrate God, worship His works on the earth today, maintain our unity in Christ, and to hear from God for His direction in our next steps. These “Friends” are today’s heroes of the church, although they will certainly never

accept that title. They are heroes and they are my friends, and I am so proud to know them and to serve them. They have faced some of Paul’s list above and have added to it in their own experience. They have paid the cost and have testified to its reward in this lifetime. These friends are the real thing, living and working among the nations today. They call themselves the UnMission — the unlikely, bringing the unknown, to the unreached. They do not want your praise or honor, nor do they want you to lift them up and make them famous. They frighten the nations because they are anxious for nothing. Though they have faced death, they remain full of joy! And God has used them to establish His church in the nations today and to change nations for His glory. They have learned to pray a very powerful prayer, one that each of us should know and share in daily:“My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness. For we are also weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you. Lord give us the nations and give us the strength to face persecutions.”

Theirs, too, is a deep concern for all the churches. Of the church in America and the Middle East they each asked me, “Will the church stand for Christ?” With confidence I answered, “Yes!” I truly believe that we will stand for Christ, but only successfully through prayer, kneeling in our weakness, and standing in the power of God!Please pray for these “Un-Heroes” and join together with them in deep concern for the church praying their power prayer for your nation.

Spare Change, Changed Lives
There’s a poem about finding a penny and having good luck. Well, I am not sure about having good luck, but you will certainly have a penny in your pocket, which will ultimately end up in between couch cushions, in the cup holder of your car, or on top of the dryer. Why not give that penny a purpose? The SEAPC Coins For Kids fall 2015 campaign began on September 27, and it’s never too late to participate! I urge you to save all of your loose change from now until the week of Thanksgiving and then send it in to the SEAPC office. Once all of the donated change has been counted, it will be spent on things that can change the lives of children around the world and right here in the United States.Since its inception in 2007, SEAPC Coins For Kids has raised more than $124,000 and has provided things from backpacks to heart surgeries! Imagine knowing that the change you found while cleaning your car helped fund a heart surgery! It’s also a great way to motivate employees in the workplace and children at school and at home. Start a coin-collecting contest or start a challenge. Offer your children change as a reward for chores or good manners. The possibilities are endless and so are the blessings! So, how does SEAPC Coins for Kids change lives?A portion of the 2015 spring campaign funds went to Reaching and Equipping All Children for Him (R.E.A.C.H.). This ministry has served in sidewalk Sunday schools, camps and other outreaches for children around the world for many years. Most recently, they purchased a church building in Beaver Falls, Pa., a once-thriving st

eel mill town that is now a broken city full of drugs, violence, domestic abuse and hurting children. Children in their church have siblings who have been shot, parents who have been arrested for dealing drugs, and parents who have been murdered. Many of the children in their church have been or are under the Child and Youth Services System. This church is serving as a respite and place of hope for these children (as well as adults) in the commun

ity. Children come and can eat a couple of times a week, learn biblical principles that directly affect their current situations, develop friendships with each other, and get closer to Jesus.Tim Blanarik, founder of R.E.A.C.H., says, “If not for the transformed lives of the children and adults who are coming to the church, the work here would be overwhelming.”
